Andre Onana Agrees Loan Move from Manchester United to Trabzonspor - Loadedmore.ng

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is set to leave Old Trafford after reportedly agreeing to join Trabzonspor on loan.

The Cameroon international, who arrived from Inter Milan in 2022 for £47 million, has struggled for form and game time during his stint with the Red Devils.

Onana has featured just once this season, in the shock Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby, with Altay Bayindir preferred as first-choice goalkeeper. The recent £18m arrival of 23-year-old Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp has only increased competition, leaving Onana on the fringes of Ruben Amorim’s squad.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal with Trabzonspor is a straight loan move with no buy option or loan fee, although the 28-year-old shot-stopper is believed to have secured a significant signing-on bonus.

Onana is expected to travel for his medical next week, with the Turkish transfer window closing on September 12. If all goes to plan, he could make his debut in a fiery clash against Fenerbahce on September 14.

Trabzonspor, currently second in the Super Lig and two points behind leaders Galatasaray, are chasing their first league title since 2022. The signing of Onana is seen as a major boost to their ambitions.

Meanwhile, Amorim continues to defend Bayindir as his No.1 choice, but pressure is mounting from supporters over his goalkeeping decisions. For Onana, however, the move offers a chance to reset his career and rediscover the form that once made him one of Europe’s most highly regarded keepers.
