Former Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has completed a shock move to Liga MX giants Monterrey Rayados, where he will now play alongside Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos.
Martial, who left AEK Athens after just one season, signed a contract with Monterrey until 2027, with the option to extend for an additional year. His departure from Greece came after a mutual termination of his three-year deal.
During his short stint in Athens, the French forward scored nine goals and provided two assists in 24 appearances across all competitions.
From Manchester United Flop to Liga MX Star Signing
Martial first burst onto the scene with AS Monaco, which earned him a record-breaking €42 million move to Manchester United in 2015 which the highest fee ever paid for a teenager at the time.
However, after nine years at Old Trafford, his career failed to live up to early expectations. He scored 90 goals in 319 games before leaving the Premier League in 2024.
Monterrey Confirm Martial’s Arrival
In an official club statement, Monterrey announced:
“Club de Futbol Monterrey informs fans and the media that French striker Anthony Martial is joining Rayados de Monterrey on a permanent transfer with a contract until 2027, with an option for an additional year.”
Martial could make his Liga MX debut this Sunday when Monterrey face Querétaro, marking the beginning of his new chapter in Mexican football.
