Barcelona Consider Early Termination of Marcus Rashford Loan Amid Poor Start - Loadedmore.ng

Barcelona are reportedly ready to terminate Marcus Rashford’s loan spell if the Manchester United forward fails to turn his form around in the coming months.

The 27-year-old joined the Catalan giants on a season-long loan in July after being deemed surplus to requirements by United boss Ruben Amorim. However, Rashford has struggled to secure a starting role under Hansi Flick, with the club’s hierarchy concerned about his adaptation to life in La Liga.

Barcelona’s Transfer Gamble

Before landing Rashford, Barcelona pursued Nico Williams and Luis Díaz, but both players rejected moves with Williams staying at Athletic Club and Díaz opting for Bayern Munich. Rashford eventually arrived as an alternative, yet his performances have so far left much to be desired.

Spanish outlet El Nacional claims the Blaugrana are disappointed with Rashford’s impact and may even break the loan deal early, despite facing a €5 million penalty fee to Manchester United.

Struggles in La Liga

Rashford has featured in all three of Barcelona’s league fixtures this season, but his only start ended at half-time in the 23 August clash with Levante. He has yet to register a goal or assist, with Flick preferring Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal in attack during Robert Lewandowski’s absence.

Reports describe Rashford as looking “completely lost” since arriving in Spain, raising serious doubts about his future at Camp Nou.

What Next for Rashford?

Despite his poor start in La Liga, Rashford has received a recall to the England national team under new manager Thomas Tuchel. His long-term future, however, appears uncertain.

With three years left on his Old Trafford contract, the forward is still expected to leave Manchester United permanently next summer, whether or not Barcelona activate their option-to-buy clause.
