Chelsea have officially completed the signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United in a £40million deal, ending the Argentine winger’s frustrating spell in the Red Devils’ so-called “Bomb Squad.”

The 21-year-old was unveiled at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, where he watched Enzo Maresca’s side secure a 2-0 Premier League victory over Fulham. His arrival marks a major statement of intent from the Blues, who handed him a long-term contract running until 2032.

Garnacho’s First Words as a Chelsea Player

Speaking to Chelsea media, Garnacho expressed his delight at joining the west London giants:

“It’s an incredible moment for my family and I to join this great club. I can’t wait to get started. I watched the Club World Cup and to join the world champions is special – we’re the best team in the world. It’s amazing to be here and I’m very happy.”

Manchester United Exit Confirmed

Garnacho had not featured this season under new United boss Ruben Amorim and was frozen out of the first-team setup. His move to Chelsea officially ends his four-year spell at Old Trafford, having joined from Atletico Madrid’s academy in 2020.

The Red Devils confirmed his departure with a heartfelt statement:

“Alejandro Garnacho has completed a permanent move from Manchester United to Chelsea. The Argentina international made 144 first-team appearances, scoring 26 goals, and was part of the squads that lifted the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the Emirates FA Cup in 2024. We thank Alejandro for his contribution and wish him the best of luck for the next chapter in his career.”

Garnacho’s Numbers at United

  • Appearances: 144
  • Goals: 26
  • Assists: 22 (48 goal involvements)
  • Trophies: Carabao Cup (2023), FA Cup (2024)

Last season alone, he featured in 58 matches, producing 11 goals and 10 assists, highlighting his attacking threat despite limited opportunities.

Chelsea’s Attack Gets a Boost

Garnacho’s arrival gives Maresca another explosive option on the wing, with the Blues already building a youthful, dynamic frontline. Meanwhile, United appear to have prepared for his exit by bringing in Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo during the summer transfer window.
