The Philadelphia Eagles have suffered a major setback ahead of their highly anticipated Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Star tight end Dallas Goedert has officially been ruled out for Sunday’s clash due to a knee sprain, the team confirmed in Friday’s injury report.

Goedert, who was the Eagles’ leading receiver with seven catches in their Week 1 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, will leave a big hole in the passing game. With the Pro Bowl tight end sidelined, Philadelphia will turn to backups Grant Calcaterra and Kylen Granson to shoulder the load.

The injury report also brings more bad news for the Eagles’ offense, as rookie running back Will Shipley (oblique) and offensive lineman Cameron Williams (shoulder) have also been ruled out.

Facing Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in a rematch of last season’s Super Bowl, head coach Nick Sirianni will need his offense to find answers quickly without one of its most reliable weapons.
