The summer transfer window has officially closed, but the drama continues for Liverpool and Crystal Palace as both clubs race against the post-deadline clock.
Liverpool are set to unveil Alexander Isak in a record-breaking £130 million transfer from Newcastle United — a deal that shatters the British transfer record.
The 24-year-old Swedish striker completed his medical earlier today, with final paperwork expected to be confirmed imminently.
However, the Marc Guehi saga remains unresolved. A deal sheet for the £35m move from Crystal Palace to Anfield was submitted before the 7pm deadline, giving both clubs a crucial two-hour extension to finalise paperwork. Guehi successfully passed his medical in London, but the transfer has hit a major stumbling block.
Palace boss Oliver Glasner has resisted sanctioning the defender’s sale without a replacement secured. The Eagles saw their move for Brighton’s Igor Julio collapse earlier today, leaving the club short of defensive cover.
Now, Palace face a difficult choice: either allow Guehi to complete his Anfield switch or risk losing him on a free transfer when his contract expires next summer.
Liverpool fans are eagerly awaiting official confirmation, but the situation with Guehi could go right down to the wire.
