Jayden Daniels Injury Update: Commanders QB Likely Out vs Raiders, Marcus Mariota to Start - Loadedmore.ng

The Washington Commanders may be without their star quarterback this weekend. Jayden Daniels suffered a sprained left knee during the Commanders’ Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers and has not been spotted at practice all week.

Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters he would address Daniels’ status after Friday’s practice, but when Friday came, Daniels was nowhere to be seen. Multiple reporters at the facility confirmed that the reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year did not participate, a clear sign that Washington will likely need to turn to its backup.

That backup is veteran Marcus Mariota, who took first-team reps on Friday and is expected to start against Tom Brady and the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 3. Mariota hasn’t seen much action in recent years, starting 13 games for the Falcons in 2022 but attempting just 67 passes since then.

Still, the Commanders will count on his experience to steady the offense while Daniels recovers. Until Quinn or Daniels provides an official update, fans should assume that Washington’s rising star will be sidelined this weekend.
