Caitlin Clark’s promising rookie campaign has come to a heartbreaking pause, but she’s receiving support from one of the greatest athletes of all time.
The Indiana Fever star announced on Thursday that she will miss the rest of the 2025 WNBA season due to lingering lower-body injuries. Clark, who dazzled fans in all 40 games of her rookie year, was limited to just 13 appearances this season. Her final outing came in mid-July, just weeks after returning from a hamstring issue. Despite making a brief comeback, she re-aggravated the injury and was forced to shut things down.
LeBron James quickly chimed in under her announcement, offering encouragement to the young guard:
“Minor setback for a MAJOR COMEBACK!!” the NBA legend wrote.
Indiana had held out hope that Clark could return as the Fever push for a playoff berth, but her absence adds to a growing list of injuries for the team.
Chloe Bibby, Aari McDonald, Sydney Colson, and Sophie Cunningham have all missed significant time, making this season one of the toughest in recent franchise history.
While the “Stranger Things” alternate jerseys have brought some fun, the reality on the court has been far less enjoyable for Indiana fans. Still, with Clark’s star power and James’ vote of confidence, the Fever faithful can look forward to a strong comeback in 2026.
