Manchester United have reached an agreement with Royal Antwerp to sign highly-rated goalkeeper Senne Lammens in a deal worth around £18.2 million.
The 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper is set to travel to Manchester in the coming hours to complete his medical and put pen to paper on a five-year contract at Old Trafford.
Rising Belgian Goalkeeper Heads to Old Trafford
Lammens has been considered one of the most promising young goalkeepers in Belgium for several years. Known for his composure and sharp reflexes, he first came through the ranks at Club Brugge, where he found it difficult to displace the experienced Simon Mignolet.
A move to Royal Antwerp provided him with regular game time, and he quickly made a name for himself with his outstanding shot-stopping ability. Last season, his performances played a key role in Antwerp boasting one of the best defensive records in the Belgian Pro League.
Why Man Utd Want Lammens
According to goalkeeping coaches and scouts, Lammens consistently saves more shots than expected based on xG (expected goals) metrics, underlining his potential to perform at the highest level.
While stepping up to become Manchester United’s No.1 goalkeeper represents a huge challenge, the Red Devils clearly see Lammens as a long-term investment. Interestingly, Ruben Amorim’s Sporting CP also tracked him in the past, highlighting the widespread recognition of his talent.
What This Means for United
With Amorim reshaping his squad, United’s goalkeeping department is undergoing significant changes. Lammens’ arrival not only adds depth but also introduces serious competition for the starting role at Old Trafford.
If his development continues at the same pace, Manchester United may have secured one of Europe’s most exciting young goalkeepers for years to come.
