Paris Saint-Germain have been dealt a major setback with Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue both sidelined through injury just days before their Champions League title defence begins.

Dembele, who limped off during France’s 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Ukraine, has sustained a right hamstring injury and is expected to miss up to six weeks.

The former Barcelona winger will therefore be unavailable for PSG’s opening league phase fixture against Atalanta on September 17, 2025, and is also set to miss the highly anticipated clash against his old club at the Camp Nou on October 1, 2025.

Meanwhile, Desire Doue who was substituted at half-time of the same game has been diagnosed with a calf strain. The midfielder will be out for around four weeks, leaving him in a race against time to feature in the trip to Barcelona.

A PSG statement confirmed:

“After leaving the pitch injured during the match between Ukraine and France on Friday, Ousmane Dembele has suffered a serious injury to his right hamstring. He is expected to be unavailable for around six weeks. Also picking up an injury during the encounter, Desire Doue suffered a strain in his right calf and will be out for around four weeks.”

The injuries come at a crucial moment for Luis Enrique’s side, who face a testing run of fixtures including Ligue 1 clashes against Lens, Marseille, Auxerre and Lille before the next international break.

With two key attacking players sidelined, Enrique will need to reshuffle his squad options as PSG look to navigate a challenging six weeks both domestically and in Europe.
