Real Madrid are increasingly confident they can land Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate on a free transfer next summer.
The French centre-back, whose contract at Anfield runs until 2026, has reportedly become the subject of internal discussions within the Santiago Bernabéu.
According to The Daily Mail, senior figures at Los Blancos believe they are edging closer to a verbal agreement with the 26-year-old.
Konate could follow a similar route to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was linked with Madrid for years before eventually joining as a free agent.
Liverpool, however, are still in talks to extend Konate’s deal. Despite this, no breakthrough has been reached, leaving the door wide open for Madrid to make their move.
If the French international does leave, it would be a major blow for the Reds, while Real Madrid would secure another defensive powerhouse without paying a transfer fee.
