Former NFL coach and current ESPN analyst Rex Ryan had no mercy for Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel following the team’s Week 1 blowout loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

During Monday’s episode of Get Up, Ryan unloaded on McDaniel, mocking his coaching style and even slapping him with a cutting two-word nickname.

“Maybe he’s on a different level, McGenius guy or whatever the hell he is. Nerd boy,” Ryan said. “Their team has no respect for their coach. They’re soft, every part of their football team. They have tons of talent but don’t play with any passion.”

The Dolphins were flat from start to finish, managing just 211 yards of total offense while committing three turnovers. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa struggled, finishing 14-of-23 for 114 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. On the other side, Daniel Jones torched Miami’s defense, going 22-of-29 for 272 yards with one passing score and two rushing touchdowns.

Ryan, known for his old-school football mentality, has long been skeptical of McDaniel’s analytical approach. While his “Nerd boy” jab may not carry much weight inside Miami’s locker room, the Dolphins’ performance certainly raises questions about their toughness and execution.

McDaniel now faces a critical challenge in quickly turning things around before the season spirals.
