NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has fueled speculation that Taylor Swift could finally headline a Super Bowl halftime show.
Speaking to Today, Goodell was asked directly if the league was working on securing the pop icon for Super Bowl LX, set for February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. While careful not to give too much away, he left the door open.
“It’s a maybe,” Goodell said. “We would always love to have Taylor play. She is a special, special talent, and obviously she would be welcome at any time.”
Swift, 35, has never performed on the NFL’s biggest stage, though rumors about her interest in the halftime show have persisted for years. One theory suggested she was waiting until she owned the rights to her music catalog—a milestone she achieved earlier this year after reclaiming the masters to her first six albums.
Adding fuel to the speculation, Swift dropped subtle hints about the Super Bowl during her appearance on New Heights, the podcast hosted by her fiancé, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and his brother Jason.
Despite the intrigue, some believe Swift’s relationship with Kelce makes a halftime appearance unlikely while he’s still an active player.
The NFL traditionally reveals its halftime performer in early September. Last year, Kendrick Lamar was announced around this time, meaning fans could learn soon whether Swift will finally take center stage at the Super Bowl.
