Transfer Deadline Day Drama: Man City Agree Donnarumma Deal as Ederson Heads to Fenerbahce - Loadedmore.ng

Manchester City are set for a dramatic shake-up in their goalkeeping department on transfer deadline day, with Pep Guardiola’s side agreeing deals to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain and sell long-serving No.1 Ederson to Fenerbahce.

Donnarumma to Manchester City Confirmed

According to multiple reports, including Italian outlet Sport Mediaset, City have reached a full agreement with PSG for Donnarumma. The deal is worth an initial €35 million plus €4m in add-ons, taking the total package to €39m (£34m).

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has given the move his famous “here we go”, confirming that Donnarumma is set to undergo his Manchester City medical this afternoon.

The Italy international, who has been PSG’s No.1 since 2021, is leaving after failing to agree a contract extension beyond his current deal, which runs until June 2026. PSG have already installed Lucas Chevalier as their new first-choice goalkeeper, paving the way for Donnarumma’s Premier League switch.

Ederson to Fenerbahce

To make room for Donnarumma, City have agreed to sell Ederson. The 32-year-old Brazilian shot-stopper will join Fenerbahce for around €13-14m (£11-12m) after personal terms were finalised. Ederson is now travelling to Istanbul for his medical and will sign as the Turkish giants’ new No.1.

The move comes after Galatasaray, Fenerbahce’s fierce rivals, failed with a €10m (£9m) offer earlier in the window. Their refusal to raise their bid has allowed Fenerbahce to swoop in and secure a marquee signing.

Busy Summer at the Etihad

This double deal marks yet another twist in City’s hectic summer transfer window. Guardiola’s squad has already seen huge turnover:

Arrivals: Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki, Marcus Bettinelli, Sverre Nypan, Rayan Ait-Nouri, James Trafford.

Departures: Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, Kyle Walker, Scott Carson, James McAtee, Callum Doyle.

James Trafford, who re-joined City from Burnley, has been starting in recent weeks but will now face stiff competition from Donnarumma for the No.1 shirt.

Premier League Stage Awaits Donnarumma

At just 26 years old, Donnarumma is entering his prime years and will now test himself in the Premier League for the first time. Manchester United were also strongly linked earlier this summer, but City have moved quickly to finalise the deal.

With Ederson heading to Istanbul and Donnarumma landing in Manchester, Pep Guardiola’s squad overhaul continues to reshape the reigning champions on the final day of the window.
