The WNBA playoff picture is officially complete and it came down to the final seconds in Seattle.
The Storm punched their ticket to the postseason with a dramatic 74–73 victory over the Golden State Valkyries on Tuesday night, sealing the eighth and final playoff berth.
Seattle entered the fourth quarter trailing 61–53 but mounted a furious comeback, outscoring Golden State 21–12 in the final 10 minutes. Guard Erica Wheeler delivered the decisive blow, hitting a clutch pull-up jumper with just seconds left to give the Storm a one-point edge.
The Valkyries had a chance to retake the lead after Iliana Rupert’s late three-pointer put them ahead 73–72, but Wheeler’s heroics on both ends sealed the result. After scoring the go-ahead basket, she secured a loose ball off a missed Golden State corner three and ran out the clock to send Seattle to the playoffs.
With the win, the Storm finish the regular season at 23–21, officially eliminating the Los Angeles Sparks (21–22) despite their 88–83 victory over the Mercury earlier in the evening.
