Wolves have turned down a second, improved £55 million offer from Newcastle United for Norwegian striker Jørgen Strand Larsen, just hours after he fired in two late goals to seal a thrilling 3-2 Carabao Cup win over West Ham.

The 25-year-old has quickly become a key figure under manager Vítor Pereira, who praised his striker’s mentality and commitment despite ongoing transfer speculation.

Speaking after the match, Pereira admitted that “every player has a price” but stressed just how important Larsen is to Wolves’ plans:

“Of course I want to keep him. He’s a very important player – not just technically and tactically, but also because of his character. Despite all the talk around him, he stays committed. Until now, Jørgen is our player, and I hope that continues.”

Newcastle’s pursuit of a striker has been far from smooth. The Magpies are still searching for a long-term replacement for Callum Wilson, with multiple bids for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa also rejected. To make matters more complicated, star forward Alexander Isak remains unavailable for selection amid strong transfer links with Liverpool.

For Wolves, holding onto Larsen looks crucial. Pereira insisted the player won’t force a move, but acknowledged that in football, “anything can happen” before Deadline Day.
